JOHN BLUM FAMILY
John Blum came to the Naperville area in the early 1860’s from Germany. He married Magdelenh Yender in SS Peter & Paul Church in Naperville. They owned and operated a farm in DuPage Township, Will County on Lilly Cache Road from 1870 to 1918. The family consisted of nine children: John, Frank, Lizz, Melia, Gene, Joseph, Edward, George and Reuben. Many of their children and grandchildren were farmers in the greater Naperville farming area until the disappearance of the farms from the Naperviile area.
Reuben Blum was born on January 6, 1894 in DuPage Township, Will County. He started to farm in 1915 on his parent’s farm. On June 3, 1919 he married Florence Rott of Naperville in SS Peter & Paul Church. On March 1, 1922 they moved to the farm on College Road which they had purchased. They farmed the farm on College Road until December, 1949 at which time the farm was sold. They had two children, Vernon Blum and Helen
