INDIANA FARM (1942-1943)

Before obtaining the Stalions Rolling Meadows farm in Naperville Township, DuPage County, Illinois, Bertis R. Stalions (1905-1955) owned a 160-acre farm in Porter County, Indiana. This was where Bertis R. Stalions first pursued his interest in raising purebred Herefords. Bertis R. Stalions bought this farm in early 1942 and, as later with the Naperville Rolling Meadows farm, he had Herbert O. Albert (1898-1978) live on the farm and manage it.

At that time, horses were still in use on many farms. Bertis R. Stalions owned a beautiful, powerful team of Belgian draft horses which were always a highlight for visitors to the farm. The team was used mostly for miscellaneous chores around the farm. All the fieldwork was done with tractors. The team was taken later to the Naperville Rolling Meadows farm.

In late 1943, Bertis R. Stalions had the opportunity to buy a larger farm in Naperville Township, DuPage County, and Illinois, which became known as the Rolling Meadows farm. Bertis R. Stalions then sold the Indiana farm and transferred all of his cattle operations to the Naperville Township Rolling Meadows farm.
