EMIL AND MARY SCHWERER FAMILY

Robert and Elizabeth Hatch came from Germany and were married in 1881 at SS Peter and Paul Church, Naperville. They farmed south of 77th Street on 200 acres purchased from Arthur Freeman in 1896. Their daughter Mary married Emil Schwerer and they farmed it from 1909, renting until they purchased the farm in 1924. They lived there until 1924 and raised four daughters, Leona (Vincent Brummel), Elizabeth (Edward Kraisinger), Annabelle (Edward Kuhn) and Irene (Edward LaRoux).

The property now belongs to the DuPage County Boy Scouts and is called Camp Thunderbird.
